Each month at the Competition Meeting the judge is asked to select the overall best image of the night from all four categories (see category info). This gallery exhibits the winning images from the February to November Competition Meetings. Click and image icon to see the full image and scroll through in gallery mode.
At the end of the year the members review these 10 images and vote on which image they thought was the best of the Images of the Month.

March 17 - Snow Monsters - Photographer: Tony Naumovski
Taken in Zao Onsen ,a village famous for its “Snow Monsters” 400kms north of Tokyo Japan. These monsters are curious shapes in the trees created by unique heavy snowfalls and freezing winds. Tony's intentions was to communicate the cold weather and to give a contrasting view of nature vs man made objects where nature takes over in the end.

The image was taken in February 2017 on Tony's recent skiing holiday
in Japan.

May 17 - Majestic Bloom - Photographer: Cyril Kirkland
The image was shot in Cyril’s home studio using limited artificial lighting. A few shots were taken at different apertures, shutter speeds & focal lengths and were worked in Lightroom for different effects, exploring the limits of the various develop options.

June 17 - Lion Around - Photographer: Steve Randall
A friend who is Dubbo Zoos’s photographer invited Steve on a personalised guided tour so he could try his new Sigma 150-600mm Sports Lens. The one year old lion’s name is Baako.

July 17 - Wildebeest Stampede - Photographer: Evi Messer
Photo was taken in Kenya whilst on tour with Ken Duncan with a Canon 700D - 1/800 sec, f/6.3, 115mm, ISO 800.

August 17 - Pattern - Photographer: Tony Naumovski
The in camera, 3 multiple exposure, image was taken in Windhoek, Namibia. Minor adjustments to contrast, clarity, vibrance and saturation in Lightroom.

September 17 - Quiver Tree - Photographer: Tony Naumovski
This image is taken in Quiver Tree Forest, Namibia. These 200-300 year old trees are used by traditional bushman to make quivers. The trees existence is being threatened due to climate change.
